Get the truth & avoid misinformation about the Corona Virus

Listen to Larry’s CBS News Eye on Tech segment

There is a lot of misinformation online about the Corona Virus but there are also some very reputable sources of information such as the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and the World Health Organization along with the website operated by Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering which publishes up-to-date numbers on confirmed cases on a country-by-country basis. I also recommend you check with your state and country public health department sites to see if they have up-to-date information for your community.

To help users find (and report) sites with misleading information, Newsguard — a company that rates news websites for general accuracy — has created the Coronavirus Misinformation Tracking Center, which currently list “31 sites that it has found are publishing false and potentially harmful stories about the origins and impact of the virus and the science related to it. I won’t repeat their list of inaccurate sites, but I recommend you take a look at their list and avoid relying on information from these sources.
