Apple discloses government information requests

Like Google, Facebook and Microsoft, Apple has disclosed — in very broad terms — the types of information requests it has gotten from governments.  In its  November 5th Report on Government Information Requests the company said that it had disclosed information on  between “0 and 1000” accounts.

Apple also said that “Unlike many other companies dealing with requests for customer data from government agencies, Apple’s main business is not about collecting information. As a result, the vast majority of the requests we receive from law enforcement seek information about lost or stolen devices, and are logged as device requests.”
