How to back out of an unwanted Windows 10 upgrade

downgradewindowsPersonally I like Windows 10 and recommend that most people upgrade. But it’s your choice and if you don’t want to, you shouldn’t be tricked into doing so.

If you did accidentally upgrade or have simply changed your mind, you have a month to go back to Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.

Here are the instructions, according to Microsoft

  1. Click on Start menu
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Update & security
  4. Recovery
  5. Select either Go back Go back to Windows 7 or Go back to Windows 8.1.

Microsoft says that this “won’t affect your personal files, but it will remove any apps you installed after the upgrade to Windows 10. More from Microsoft and here’s PC World’s instructions on backing out.

Remember, this option won’t work after a month
