More Evidence That Apple Will Cease To Dominate Tablet Market

In a recent blog post, I noted that Apple‘s dominance in the tablet market slipped from 81% a year ago to 51% in a recent Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism study.  And while Apple is likely to get a “bump” (as political pollsters say) after it likely announces the iPad Mini later this month, I’m convinced that it will continue to lose marketshare to Android devices,  just as it has in the smartphone market.

The latest salvo, according to CNET News, is an upcoming Googlebranded 10.1-inch Nexus tablet manufactured by Samsung. CNET quotes Richard Shim, an analyst at NPD DisplaySearch, that it will have a higher pixel density than Apple’s latest (3rd generation) iPad.

With Samsung being the single biggest threat to Apple in the smartphone market, a Samsung/Google partnership on tablets could be a powerful combination
